💌 This newsletter is long, so may have you click “view entire message“ to read the full letter in your email inbox 💌
Hi Hauties! Welcome to the first monthly installment of That’s Haute—a segment of the newsletter that I’ve decided to name after the legend and icon that is Paris Hilton.
This series is a compilation of things I, myself, am browsing in real life and on the internet. No pressure to buy anything!! Just simply tips, tricks, and observations. While I’m not making anything on the newsletter itself, I want to mention that I may add affiliate links where applicable. That means I’ll earn a small commission if you choose purchase through one of my links. I’ll add a little affiliate disclaimer under each letter to remind you.
You can expect a new issue of this monthly wrap-up on the last Sunday of each month @ 1 PM EST / 7 PM CET. Each letter will include the following:
HYPED ABOUT: Here, I’ll list a bunch of shopping suggestions, online stores, style inspo, and diversions I’ve been hyped about lately.
AROUND THE BLOCK: I’ve found so many great vintage stores, bars, coffee shops, and restaurants in NYC. So, each month I’ll share one of my favorite vintage spots along with a nearby nest (around the block-ish) where you can show off your new vintage purchase.
USEFUL READS: All the best articles, blog posts, and newsletters I’ve been reading in the past month.
TO-DO: A list of fun or interesting things to do in the upcoming month.
EBAY FAVORITES: Lastly, I’ll share my favorite eBay finds.
👇 OKAY, let’s get to the good stuff….
💭 HYPED ABOUT…
This month, I’m pretty hyped about anything Valentine’s related. It’s not that I necessarily like Valentine’s Day as a concept (nor dislike it for that matter), but I really enjoy giving myself permission to stray away from my usual shopping tendencies. I’ve always preferred black clothes and if I’m feeling frisky, I usually mix in a little bit of dark gray, -brown, or -blue. Yet somehow, I tend to do a one-eighty around Valentine’s Day when I dabble into all the playful shapes and silhouettes and pink color palettes.
Here’s the list of the specific items I’ve been eyeing recently:
I am also majorly into the Ouai Melrose Place Eau De Parfum (smells like a meadow of roses) and the vintage gold heart locket necklace I got at a flea market in Rome two years ago. Both very Valentine’s-esque, no?
🗽 AROUND THE BLOCK…
🛒 James Veloria: According to Vogue, “James Veloria […] has been a downtown-beloved retreat for fashion lovers for a few years now.” In my opinion, James Veloria has one of the best curated selections of vintage designer clothing. I also love coming here whenever I just want a little bit of real-life style inspo.
🍸 Mr. Fong’s: Mr. Fong’s is a chill bar on the corner of Market and Madison. If you’re looking for a cozy little nook in Chinatown where you can enjoy a cold beer and a couple of smooches away from the crowd of the city, Mr. Fong’s is your spot!
🖥️ USEFUL READS…
Are the girlies in the room with us right now? on
writes a poignant piece on the essence of female friendships and their evolving dynamics through the winding paths of adulthood. There’s something so real and raw about the way Becker writes that makes you yearn for the type of friend groups you once had. Grab a tissue, schedule a FaceTime date with your girlies, and go give this piece a read.Wear It Well by Allison Bornstein
Allison Bornstein, TikTok’s favorite stylist, debuted with “Wear It Well” late last year. The book offers a philosophical and emotional approach on the act of getting dressed as well as curating your wardrobe. There’s currently so much talk in the mediasphere about personal style and taste versus microtrends, aesthetics, and all the cores of the internet, making this read particularly relevant.
📌 TO-DO…
The only two things I’ve gifted my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day this year are these:
Framed photo booth strip
I think a framed photo is one of the nicest, most personal gifts you can give someone while also being anti-consumerism.
Victorian puzzle purse
Same with the Victorian puzzle purse. Originally, I wanted to make one for each and everyone of my friends, but YIKES does it require a lot of time and patience (perhaps the two things I lack the most in this lifetime).
